The Gallagher Law Firm, the predecessor to Gallagher & Westholz, was founded in 2000 by Richard T. Gallagher, Jr. Mr. Gallagher spent his early years working at a large New Orleans law firm. While there, he was exposed to a wide variety of cases, including cases involving medical malpractice, car accidents, nursing home abuse, partnership/corporation disputes, and other types of personal injury. While he was learning a great deal, Mr. Gallagher was dissatisfied with constantly representing insurance companies against regular people. Looking back at the cases he had worked on, Mr. Gallagher realized that the cases he enjoyed the most were those where he could make a difference in people’s lives. That is why the Gallagher Law Firm was founded – to make a difference in people’s lives.
The Gallagher Law Firm still represents companies, but now they represents smaller, local companies, companies where people know each other, companies that are like families. Even small companies sometimes face complex issues. The Gallagher Law Firm continues to handle cases involving complex business tort issues, including unfair trade practices, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and intentional interference with contractual relations.
“My proudest moment so far involved a child who suffered brain damage after being infected by hospital personnel. When I called the child’s mother to tell her we got a great result, she began crying and said ‘Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to us.’ I still get chills thinking about that call. That is what practicing law is all about.” – Richard T. Gallagher, Jr.
